As per self-sworn affidavits filed by candidates for phase I of the Lok Sabha polls, nearly one-third of the candidates have some sort of criminal cases against them, while over 400 candidates have declared assets worth of Rs 1 crore or more, according to a report released by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
